I had not given her my attention before. Not like this. A fifteen-year-old girl. With plans. With dreams. With expectations for what her future would hold. Marriage. Motherhood. Caring for a home. Working alongside her community. A loyal daughter. A loving wife. A trusted friend.

What are some ways we can grieve the loss of our individual dreams, especially when the pain hurts so deeply? Here are three suggestions.

Missionaries in foreign countries prepare by learning a new language, finding out about that country’s culture, and researching the physical needs of the area. You can do the same thing wherever you are.

Instead of hiding our grief and attempting to walk through it numbly, we serve a God who wants us to break down to Him.

You may not be able to change the world, but you do get to choose how you live and how you influence the ones God has entrusted to you.

Isaiah 9:6 reminds us we can have hope and joy this time of year, no matter how painful the past has been.

Scripture writing plans are incredibly simple, yet incredibly effective for helping us read, interpret and absorb the Word of God.
